Having A Master In Life
Achieving success in life can be a rough journey to some. Walking this journey alone can be humongous task as well. The thing is anyone can achieve the success that they desire. As long as they are persistent, success is around the corner. But this post is not about persistent. Then what is this post about?
Since anyone can achieve success, then the next question is: WHEN! Some took twenty years to achieve their success, while some took five years. Why that huge difference?
I’m sure there are many reasons to that, and in this post let’s discuss on just one of those many reasons. Having A Master.
Having a master in your life gives you an advantage in your success journey. The main advantage is that it speeds up your success.
Now you can’t go onto the street to grab anyone to be your master in life. A master means he must be successful himself / herself. A master must be someone who has done it before. If you want to be successful in investing, you find someone who is successful in investing. If you want to be successful in a watch retail business, you get someone who is successful in that industry. If you want to lose weight, you will want to find a person who has successfully done that.
Investing one hour of your time to talk to people who has done it before is much more effective than attending a one year course listening to Professors who has never done it.
Listening to a master’s experience is greatly beneficial to our success. It gives us an idea of what to do and how to do it effectively. A master’s experience helps us avoid costly mistakes that can set us back by a few years.
A master are able to tell you if your decision is right or wrong because he has that experience already. Based on his vast amount of experiences, a master can share with you his / her point of view from a different angle. By this alone it can actually saves you thousands and thousands of dollars and lots of time.
I am blessed to have a few masters in success journey, guiding and supporting my growth. All of them provide feedback on my performance which allow to correct and improve faster. All of them guided me in my decision making process. Some of them helped me with my marketing for my business so that I save lot money in ineffective marketing tactics.
There are some masters who gave me a kick in the butt when I fell behind in my performance. They are so willing to put in their time to coach me in becoming a better person. Some of them allowed me to support their work, where I am able to learn and improve myself in the process. I must say I owe my success to them.
For those who don’t have any master, it really can be a tedious journey towards success. Imagine making mistakes that they can avoid if they have a master. Imagine knocking the walls around before they found the right door. They could have find the door faster if they have a master.
So how to you find a master? Very simple.
1. Find out who you want to learn from.
2. Call or email the master to buy him lunch.
3. Prepare your question prior on meeting him. Make sure it’s good question.
3. Ask him to mentor you.
4. Give him something in return. Eg. work for him for free.
Imagine walking through the success journey. You’ve seen some walked for twenty years, some for five. How many years do you want to walk this journey? Twenty or five?
